Hypostyle were appointed as Architect, Lead Consultant and Principal Designer for refurbishment works to University Hospital Wishaw. The works have provided seventeen new single-bed hospital wards for accident and emergency admission assessment. The new wards were previously occupied the Medical Records Department.

Our design has provided a separate external entrance and patient pathway for patients with infectious  diseases, such as COVID-19, to avoid contact with other admission channels. It also features the provision of supporting facilities, such as a new preparation room, sluice room, nurse management cluster, staff changing rooms and additional storage. The new wards are fully compliant with Scottish Health Planning Note 04 standards.
